Project Overview:

The Government of North Macedonia awarded Bechtel, along with our joint venture partner, the construction of approximately 110km of dual carriageway motorway.

The project is of significant national importance and the Government of North Macedonia is entrusting the joint venture to fast track the development and construction of these strategic motorways which will form part of the Pan-European Corridors IIIV and Xd, which will enhance North Macedonias transport connections with neighbouring countries and support economic and social development.

These four new sections of motorway will continue Bechtels legacy in delivering successful motorways in the Balkan region. The North Macedonia motorway consists of two sections in the east heading south from the capital Skopje and running parallel to the Sharr mountains, one section passing through the UNESCO natural world heritage site around Lake Ohrid (one of Europes deepest and oldest lakes), with the fourth section in the South of the country close to the border with Greece which will enhance connectivity between the cities of Bitola and Prilep.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractors management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.

Major Responsibilities:

• The Site Supervisor - Drainage will be responsible for the performance of a broad range of construction quality control activities within an assigned area of responsibility.
• Responsible for implementation of quality control procedures and policies to ensure field activities conform to project specifications.
• Receives technical and operational direction from QC Manager or other assigned Delivery Managers.
• Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate quality control engineers and technical and clerical staff, as assigned.
• Contacts are with client representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and on-site craft supervision in the performance of quality control duties.
• Directs activities of subordinate quality control engineers, and other inspection personnel, as assigned.
• Responsible for construction quality control program activities, such as development and implementation of inspection plans, within assigned discipline.
• Determines requirements for, and directs preparation of, technical and administrative documents and reports.
• Within assigned area, monitors the performance and overall progress of construction inspections to ensure adherence to the field quality control program and ES&H requirements of the project.
• Ensures contractors are adhering to project environmental control plan, ES&H plan and site activities are performed safely.
• Maintains quality control records in support of activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
• Implements established project procedures and policies for the performance of assigned functions. Develops discipline specific procedures, as required.
• Monitors activities of assigned subcontractors to ensure construction, material and installation comply with project specifications and quality control criteria.
• Ensures continuous, progressive training of assigned subordinate personnel.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to monitor structural health of newly built assets.
• Knowledge and ability to operate and maintain QGIS systems to support the project needs.
• Knowledge of current industry standard quality requirements.
• Ability to develop detailed inspection plans and regimes based on contract; project and industry quality standards; and project approved design documents.
• Able to work well within a team-based environment.
• Prior experience of soil mapping and related software.
• Manage and produce accurate formal reports in accordance with business timetable.
• Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractors responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
