OFFICE LOCATION

The position is flexible in terms of location within the TNC Asia Pacific region, in countries where TNC may hire staff, with preference given to Mongolia and Indonesia. There is no sponsorship for relocation and support for immigration and visa.

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

Asia Pacific Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) specialist oversees relational database programs, including GIS, and provides technical expertise to Conservancy staff. He/she coordinates relational database activities between internal and external sources.

AP MEL Specialist designs and maintains centralized database, participates in conservation planning at various levels, develops a process system for projects' MEL, develops methods for mapping and classifying ecosystems and data management, including developing and maintaining all documentation for data and data management. He/she gathers data from different sources and is keeping them up to date for analysis. He/she performs data analysis; designs and produces advanced complex queries and professional reports, processes spatial and other relational data sets derived from cartographic and tabular source material, provides software support. AP MEL Specialist develops and delivers training to staff individually and in groups, produces graphic products, maps, and reports. They develop and maintain database products library and compiles, assembles and maintains land protection, biodiversity and management information from various sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Design, implement and direct complex and diverse projects, encompassing multiple programs and coordinating the work of other professionals inside and outside the organization.
  • Incorporates cross-disciplinary knowledge to support program objectives.
  • Significant opportunity to act independently within broad program goals.
  • In supervisory capacity, plans, organizes and directs assigned project programs. Typically supervises project staff or contractors of Analysts, Specialists and Technicians.
  • Manages projects on a large geographic scale.

This is a fixed-term, two-years position with the possibility of extension, subject to performance and organizational needs.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • M.S or B.S. degree and certification in related field and 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining a database to meet organizational needs.
  • Experience in developing and managing multiple projects.
  • Experience managing and supervising a team or department and administering a budget.
  • Experience training individuals and groups (if required).
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
  • Experience interpreting image analysis, complex spatial analysis, data modeling and landscape scenario analysis.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working experience in developing a process system for monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
  • Experience in applying statistical methods for analysis, interpreting statistical analysis, and presenting results in a concise manner.
  • Working knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s) and geographic region(s).
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other parties to obtain different data sources.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing concise reporting for multi stakeholders
  • Communicating clearly via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
